Natural hot springs and wild baths
Not every bath in Iceland is a polished lagoon. These places stay close to the old way of bathing: natural hot water, simple pools and very little between you and the landscape.
At Hvammsvík the tide flows in and out of hot pools on the shore of the Whale Fjord. The Canyon Baths are two hand-built stone pools in a canyon near Húsafell, reached on a guided walk. The Highland Baths sit in a remote valley at Kerlingarfjöll, open to day visitors in summer, and at Hoffell four hot tubs sit below an outlet glacier of Vatnajökull.
