Lagoons in West Iceland
West Iceland has fjords, tide pools and Europe’s most powerful hot spring, all within an hour or two of Reykjavík. It’s the easiest region to explore on a day trip from the city.
Hvammsvík’s hot pools sit on the shore of the Whale Fjord, and Guðlaug is a small bath built into the sea wall in Akranes. Inland, Krauma is next door to the Deildartunguhver hot spring, and the Canyon Baths are hidden in a canyon near Húsafell, reached on a guided walk.
