Lagoon Land

Lagoons in North Iceland

North Iceland has volcanic lakes, birch forest and whale-filled bays, and some of the longest aurora nights in Europe. Its three lagoons are all within about an hour and a half of each other, so they fit easily into a road trip around the north.

Forest Lagoon is in the woods above Akureyri, GeoSea sits on a headland in Húsavík above Skjálfandi Bay, and Earth Lagoon Mývatn, rebuilt in 2026, is surrounded by lava at Lake Mývatn.
