Lagoons for the northern lights
There are few better ways to wait for the northern lights than up to your shoulders in warm water. The aurora shows in Iceland on clear, dark nights from around September to April, and the further you are from city lights, the better your chances.
In the north, Earth Lagoon Mývatn, Forest Lagoon and GeoSea all have wide, dark skies. Vök Baths is on a quiet lake in the east, and Krauma in West Iceland is well away from the bigger towns. Check closing times before you go, since many lagoons close earlier in winter.
