Lagoons with saunas and bathing rituals
Bathing in Iceland is about more than hot water. Many lagoons now pair their pools with saunas, cold plunges and steam rooms, and some guide you through them step by step, from hot to cold and back again.
Sky Lagoon’s seven-step Skjól Ritual is the best known. Reykjaböð has outdoor sauna rituals and a bathhouse room kept below freezing and filled with real snow. Krauma pairs its baths with a cold pool and a fireside relaxation room, and Earth Lagoon Mývatn has a natural steam cave you can swim into.
